Description

Shoulder Height: 50-61 cm, Mass: 15 kg, Gestation: About 210 days.

A compact, inquisitive animal that blends in well with its surroundings. It is widely distributed, frequenting koppies and hilly, rocky countryside. Where suitable habitat occurs, it has definite home ranges. This species is a phenomenal jumper; it is able to go up vertical faces, balancing expertly on its cylindrical hooves. The klipspringer makes a short snorting sound.

Diet

Principally a browser. Independent of water, but drinks water when available.

Faeces

Up to 1,3 cm long; rounded and pointed.

Spoor: The track is unlike that of any other antelope, each slot consisting of two small oval pits, close together, not unlike the imprints of the tips of two fingers.
